Teachers in the Northern Territory (NT) teach approximately 34,000 children in 153 government schools spread across 1.35 million square kilometres. Seventy-one per cent of schools are located in remote and very remote areas, with forty-four per cent of the NT’s total student population attending those remote schools.

Some forty-four per cent of students in the NT speak a language other than English at home.

For information on every school in the NT, see the Education Directory.

Schools are grouped into six regions.
